Introduction

The IT Department supports  school in all aspects of integrating technology with the goal of using technology as a tool for improving student achievement. The IT department prepares students to meet or exceed performance standards with the support of technology integration into all curriculum areas provide tools for teachers so they can consolidate their professional development and improve their skills in relation to Information Communications Technology.

Mission  Statement

The mission of the St. Constantine’s International School [SCIS]  Information Technology Department is to ensure the seamless integration of technology into the curriculum.

    

The school set up a New IT lab in January 2006 with 24 Flat screen HP Pentium IV computers in Lab 1 and 24 computers in Lab 2 for subject resources.  All the computers are connected to a LAN and internet. We have 4 servers and a APC back up which supports 48 computers during power failure.

 At SCIS IT department provides all students the knowledge, skills, and educational opportunities to achieve high academic standards and be successful in a changing global society.

This website is designed to give you a brief description of St. Constantine's International School.

The school maintains its traditional strengths and values, yet is ambitious and forward-looking, seizing as many opportunities as possible to widen and enrich the experience of students. The school has a strong local identity but also recognises the growing need to work within an international context.

SCIS is a learning community, committed to high quality provision and excellence in everything that we do; high achievement is our aim.

The primary objectives of the initiative are to:

Support and encourage students to effectively incorporate the use of information and  communication technology into their daily activities.

 

Aims of the  Department

bullet Ensure that all pupils have a broad and balanced information technology curriculum.
bullet Ensure that all pupils have a programme which progresses from year 7 to year 12.
bullet Encourage pupils to gather, store, process and present information through activities in a range of contexts.
bullet Provide pupils with opportunities to analyse, design, implement and document information technology systems for use by others.
bullet Encourage pupils to develop an understanding of the wider applications and effects of information technology.
bullet Encourage pupils to solve problems through the use of information systems and associated principles and techniques.
bullet Provide pupils with a broad and balanced view of the range of applications and information systems and an understanding of their capabilities and limitations.

Objectives

bullet Provide an information technology curriculum that delivers the National Curriculum in each key stage,  that relates the information technology in lessons to the wider applications and effects of IT in everyday life.
bullet Choose learning experiences that build upon previous work and pupils' present knowledge and understanding.
bullet Provide specific opportunities for pupils to take on responsibility for their own learning by encouraging the development of research, practical and investigative skills.
bullet Provide opportunities for pupils to use information technology independently and to show awareness of how IT improves efficiency and supports new ways of working.
bullet Provide opportunities for pupils to apply their knowledge, skills and understanding of IT to a range of situations.
bullet Provide opportunities for pupils to consider the social, legal, ethical and moral issues and security needs for data which surround the increasing use of this technology.
